Dedication

Pathways was founded with the desire to provide a safe, committed Christian environment where all of God's children are welcome to learn, grow, and celebrate.

SUNDAY MORNING PROGRAMS

Child care is provided for infants through two-year-olds during both church services.  Parents of infants staff the nursery on a rotating basis.  Our toddlers and two-year-olds have a lead teacher who is with them every Sunday.  Parents of toddlers and two-year-olds assist the lead teacher on a rotating basis.

Our program includes two fully-staffed Church School sessions for 3-year-olds through 6th graders -- one at 8:45 a.m. and one at 10:30 a.m.

On Church Family Sunday, kindergartners through 6th graders worship in the Sanctuary with their parents.  Church Family Sunday will usually be celebrated at the end of each six-week unit.

PATHWAYS PRESCHOOL

If you really want your children to know the stories in the Bible, YOU must be the story teller!

Each Sunday a BIBLE STORY is the center of the Church School lesson.

Church School teachers will present the stories from Genesis through Revelation in a variety of ways.  Three and four-year-olds will bring story cards home each week to help you tell the story.  You just repeat the story during the week to help your child retain the meaning.

Bible Quest was created using Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences.  This means that over several sessions your child will be offered experiences to connect with the story that appeal to the many ways we learn:  using numbers, observing nature, using our tactile senses and body, seeing and constructing images, using words, using musical sounds, forming relationships and learning about ourselves.

Bible Quest offers the opportunity for you and your children to KNOW the Bible stories.

What is the Workshop Rotation Model?

The Workshop Rotation Model is an exciting, dynamic approach to teaching the Old and New Testaments to our Church School students. Under this model, the children meet in the theater for a brief worship service geared specifically for their understanding. With the help of their group's teacher, they then proceed to their assigned workshop, learning about and exploring the stories of the Bible in an in-depth and interactive way. The children spend six weeks learning about a particular story in different workshops each week with the end result being true comprehension.

Why the Workshop Rotation Model?

Spiritual growth and faith development in children is most effectively encouraged by their active participation in the learning process. Repeating the same story through many learning media encourages understanding and embraces the fact that children learn in many different ways.

Workshop rotations are based on the way children love to learn:  through movement, music, dance, drama, meditation, games, art, and cooking. The approach is welcoming and fun, yet educationally rich.

A real theater complete with genuine theater seats and a popcorn machine! Everything is designed to make options feasible: a big screen, a stage area, lighting and sound equipment, and props and costumes. Pathways

Fellowship Hall

Students will get the chance to release their energy levels in this large and versatile space. Students can play beach ball volleyball, run relays, dance, or play Bible-based game shows. Pathways

Scripture Tent

This richly evocative room provides a space to let the mind and spirit grow and to be transported to ancient times. Students may cluster under the canopy of the tent for prayer or gather around the "campfire" for a song. A small proscenium provides a space for mini theatrical events. Pathways

Art/Kitchen Room

This dual purpose room will make it possible for students to experience the Bible through all of their senses, including smell and taste! Chalkboard walls encourage spontaneous expression. The creative window sculptures reinforce the Biblical, imaginative, artistic, humorous, and visionary in us all. Pathways

Computer Room

A splash of stars and planets on these walls lets visitors know that the sky is not the limit in God's cosmos! Students will play learning games and visit web sites created fro church school students. In addition, students will be encouraged to write newsletters, invitations, and greeting cards. Pathways
