Open to
God’s story
Our story
Your story
“Then looking up to heaven, Jesus sighed
and said to him, ‘Be opened.’” (Mark 7:34)
We have adopted “Open to God’s story, our story, your story” as our theme for the program year, drawing from the extraordinary account of Jesus healing a deaf-mute in Mark’s gospel. Jesus opened the ears and throat of the deaf-mute man with his command, “Be Opened!” Once healed, the man could perceive God’s loving presence and give vocal witness of that presence to others.
We see a similar miracle at work among us here in The Church of the Open Door. Through Christ, we find ourselves opened to a new way of viewing the world—God’s story—a new way of viewing our work in the world—our story—and a new way of viewing our own life experiences—your story. Throughout this next year, in our worship and fellowship, in our studies and classes, and in our prayers and outreach, we will be experiencing and living out that Christ-given openness.
May we all be newly opened to the possibilities Christ can offer us as we are open to God’s story, our story, your story.
