Nurturing a Growing Faith

Children participating in the 2012 Church School Christmas pageantFirst Congregational is devoted to educational ministries that nurture children and youth, encouraging them to explore their developing faith in a warm and accepting environment. Children are engaged through a variety of activities and multi-sensory experiences that awaken their curiosity in spirituality and in God. As they mature, their questions are welcomed as signs of an actively growing faith, and they are exposed to new perspectives and cultures, giving them a solid foundation for living as Christians in the context of a diverse and ever-changing world.

At all stages, our curriculum focuses on the four areas of faith formation: education, worship, service and fellowship.

Intergenerational Focus

2013 tool training for a youth mission trip to Pine Ridge, South Dakota. With the support of adults around them at every stage—from infant nursery volunteers to high school small group leaders—our youth are encouraged to find their unique spiritual voice in the life of the church, and their contributions remain visible throughout the year. One of many examples is our annual Youth Sunday, a worship service prepared and led entirely by the youth.
