High School Youth

All high school youth and their friends are invited to become part of First Congregational's vibrant youth ministry. Our opportunities are designed to challenge faith, strengthen friendships and deepen our commitment to one another and to God. Through worship, fellowship, education and service, we aim to engage our youth through a variety of activities so that they may experience Christ's love in a multitude of ways. Our great hope is for our youth not only to grow more deeply in their own individual faiths but also to grow more deeply as a collective Christian community.

For where 2 or 3 are gathered in My name,
I am there among them. (Matthew 18:20)

Weekly Small Groups

High School Small Groups meet on Wednesday evenings, 7:30–8:30 PM
Need a weekly boost? Want to get to know others, share about the everyday happenings of your life and develop your faith? Sign up for a small group! Led by gifted and fun adult leaders, these close-knit groups are for students in grades 10–12, but ninth graders who aren’t participating in Confirmation are also welcome. These groups meet for approximately seven weeks on the fall, seven weeks in the winter and four weeks in the spring.

Special Events

For information on current events in Children, Youth and Families ministries, please see CYF News.

Youth Sunday

Youth Sunday 2012 At First Congregational we encourage our youth to share their talents during worship throughout the year. Each spring a Youth Sunday service is planned and led entirely by the youth of First Congo. The service incorporates the diverse talents of our youth through drama, music, public speaking, creative set design and more.

Youth Mission Trip

Youth Mission Trip to Nassau, Bahamas, 2015 Our youth mission trip is a big yearly event for our ministry. Every summer several dozen youth and adult mentors take this week-long journey of hands-on service, worship and crazy fun. This is your opportunity to experience a change—a change in your faith, your circle of friends and the way you view the world—as you serve others in great need.

Volunteering at Homeless Connections

Every other month, on an early Sunday morning, the high school ministry prepares a breakfast at the Homeless Connections shelter. It’s a lot of fun, a great way to serve our community and a requirement for those planning to participate in the youth mission trip.

Extra Fun Things

Other fun events are offered throughout the year. These include service projects—like apple pie baking, packing sack lunches for the homeless and writing Christmas cards for the elderly—and fellowship activities like our summer day trip to Noah’s Ark. These are fabulous ways to meet new people and have fun!
