About our Library

First Congregational UCC’s Library is a ministry of the church and seeks to provide books and media to support the life of the church. Intentionally our materials are almost entirely Christian in content and/or perspective. The collection is intended to aid members and friends in their spiritual development and in living their faith in the community and world today.

Books for Adults can aid in individual spiritual growth, help solve personal or family problems, or provide good thought-provoking reading.

You can find books that:

• Include devotions, prayers and meditations
• Promote Biblical studies
• Provide spiritual growth and development in the Christian life and faith
• Aid in spiritual and personal development in parenting, marriage, aging, retirement, care giving, grief and others challenges of daily life

Our Fiction section has books with realistic, interesting plots and believable characters, which integrate Christianity into real life. Our collection of video tapes for adults present programs from Christian or Biblical perspectives.

Books for Children include Bible stories and literature that provide good reading for very young children through junior high. Because we encourage all children to use these books, we make no effort to keep them in order.

Our collection of Children’s Video Tapes are Biblically based and/or present stories that are fun while encouraging healthy thinking and good choices.

Library Arrangement

Library materials are listed in the on-line catalog and may be searched by author, title, or subject. Books are arranged on the shelves by the Dewey Classification system used in most public libraries.There are special sections for Fiction, Biography, and Reference.

Videos and Children’s and Junior books are stored in separate area from the main shelves. Check out the New Books section to find the newest additions to the collection.
