You should feel very proud. It is a wonderful honor to have a young person request that you fulfill this very important role. Though you may already be familiar with our Confirmation mentoring program, let me give you the details. You would:
- Pair up with a Confirmand to act as his/her adult guide and fellow student of the Christian faith;
- Attend 8 class periods (6:30-7:30 p.m.) on one Wednesday per month over the school year;
- Attend a special dinner of celebration near the end of the Confirmation process to support the Confirmand as they present their Faith Statement;
- Be present on Confirmation Sunday to take part in the laying on of hands for the Confirmand and to receive the congregation’s thanks for your role in the Confirmation program.
- This would be a one-year commitment on your part. Below are the dates and times that you would need to be present.
- Wed., Nov. 19, 6:30-8:00 p.m. (the last half would be just a mentors meeting)
- Wed., Dec. 10, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
- Wed., Jan. 21, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
- Wed., Feb. 11, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
- Wed., March 18, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
- Wed., April 15, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
- Wed., Sept. 9, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
- Wed., Sept. 16, 6:30-7:00 p.m.
- Wed., Oct. 21, 6:00-8:00 p.m. (Confirmation Dinner)
- Sunday, Nov. 1, 8:45 or 10:30 a.m. (Confirmation Sunday)
- During the class time when you would be meeting with your Confirmand, you’d be teaming up with another Mentor and Confirmand. That means that it would be fine if you couldn’t attend one or two of the meetings. Another mentor could cover for you then.
