"All Things Bright and Beautiful"

Infant Nursery

Our youngest members and guests are welcomed into an environment that has all the touches of home: braided rugs, rocking chairs, and comfortable cribs.

For more adventurous babies, our "All Things" room has soft mats, interesting mirrors, and shin-high baby climbers.

"Garden of Eden" Toddler Room

The richly colored murals in this room are designed to captivate the interest of toddlers and two-year-olds. As its name suggests, the "Garden" room depicts nature as God has given it to us: lush, diverse, and wonderful!

Toddlers are sheltered under broad jungle leaves as they explore the tree house or hang out in the "rainbow hollow" with friends.

Three-Year-Old Room"God's Neighborhood": 3-Year-Old Room

When you visit this room, don't forget to read the poem on its walls, "For Those I Love," to get some sense of the loving spirit we want to instill in our small friends. This room has lots of places--from pod chairs to teddy bears--in which to nestle or cuddle. Beyond those private or semi-private nests are a playhouse and dollhouse figures that echo the mural theme of homes and neighborhoods, and the people in them. This is a place to start the lessons of learning to live with others.

Four Year-Old Room"Jesus Loves the Little Children": 4-Year-Old Room

A ring of dancing children greets the young visitors to this room. Echoing the variety of figures on the wall, our four-year-olds will put on costumes from a diverse world and experiment with play-acting.

Students will also be able to put on performances of their own imagining on the small stage of our puppet theater.

Children are delighted to gather to the sound of the big drum, which they like to beat all by themselves! This room helps us to teach Jesus' example of the circle of God's love which includes everyone.

Toddler RoomArt Room/Kitchen

This dual purpose room makes it possible for students to experience the Bible through all their senses. A simple but functional and well-equipped kitchen area allows children to make and eat their own handiwork that relates to a specific Biblical concept or story. (We don't feed them honey and locusts, but they might get to make unleavened bread!)

The chalkboard walls in the larger art room provide a space for spontaneous expression, whether in images or graffiti.

The windows are framed in three-dimensional sculpture displays, including a seashore scene, Joseph's Coat of Many Colors, and Noah's Ark.

Computer Lab

A splash of stars and planets on these walls lets visitors know that the sky is not the limit in God's cosmos. In this room, students are able to take studying the Bible to a new level. They play learning games and visit Internet web sites created for church school students.

Students can also access word processing and graphics programs to write newsletters, cartoons or invitations, or make greeting cards for shut-ins or people who are ill.

Scripture Tent

The scripture tent serves as our storytelling room; its richly evocative space provides a place to let the mind and spirit grow.

Students may cluster under the tent canopy for a prayer, gather around the "campfire" for a song, or face a mural with scenery to match the story they are hearing.

If you look carefully at the painted walls of the room, you will see the turbulent sea of the Noah story, Moses' Mt. Sinai, Mary and Martha's home, and much more! A small proscenium allows for mini theatrical events.

Theater

That's right! A theater with genuine theater seats and a real popcorn machine!

Our students might be the audience watching a video about Joseph in Egypt, or then again, they might be the performers presenting the story of Joseph. Both options are feasible in this room, with a big screen, a stage area, lighting and sound equipment, and storage for props and costumes.

This room also serves as our gathering space each Sunday morning after the children attend the children's sermon time in the Sanctuary with their parents.
