Gifts Inspiring Change

Someone by the church sign inviting passers by to the Alternative Christmas Market. At this church-wide event, purchase fair-trade items and make charitable donations as “alternative Christmas gifts” for your family and friends. Enjoy brunch, browse the gift display tables and learn more about a variety of needs in our community and worldwide. The Alternative Christmas Market is a unique way to honor special people on your Christmas list with authentic, life-giving gifts for those who are most in need throughout the world. When you make a contribution in honor of a friend or family member, you will receive a card to present to your loved one explaining the program supported by your gift.

Since its inception in 1993, First Congregational's Alternative Christmas Market has raised over $200,000 in gifts that inspire change. Contributions made at the market provide training, food, medicine, livestock and shelter to homeless, sick, hungry and frightened people, both in far-flung lands and close to home. Some gifts are affiliated with organizations such as Church World Service, Global Ministries and Our Church's Wider Mission, and other gifts support First Congregational's local mission partners and other agencies with which we have a longstanding association.
