What We Believe

In our church's guiding vision, we have issued this invitation:

Welcome to our Home of Homes. Our door is open to you at whatever point you are in your journey of faith.

We hope that you will find us to be an open-hearted, Christ-centered fellowship that offers a radical welcome for all. We hope that you will find we practice an open-minded faith that embraces learning and reason. And we hope that we can provide you with an open-spirited environment in which each of us, and all of us together, can come into transforming relationship with our still-speaking God.

We believe . . .

in God the Creator, revealed in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and present in the power of the Holy Spirit.

that the Bible contains the Word of God as interpreted by prophets and apostles.

in praising the Lord through worship, preaching the Word and celebrating the Sacraments.

in teaching God’s love and grace rather than fear or intolerance.

in serving Christ by helping one another in the world, nurturing the gifts and resources entrusted to our care, and sharing our spiritual gifts with the community.

in making a financial commitment, practicing Christian disciplines and seeking new and more faithful ways to serve God and neighbor.

in the freedom of faith and practice.

in the autonomy of the local church.

in ecumenical and interfaith relationships.

in welcoming and affirming the diversity of all people—building a world fit for all God’s children.

We are "The Church of the Open Door," a welcoming and inclusive Christian community. We're committed to tolerance, justice and exploration—not dogma and rules. So no matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you'll find a spiritual home here.
