The Carroll University Chamber Singers Concert on January 3 was another fine example of First Congo hospitality in action! The choir shared a varied program of sacred choral music (incorporating our organ and Steinway piano, too!) and came to us through our connection with college senior and son of our congregation, Shane Murphy-Pociask. Shane was a singer in our church children’s choir during his elementary school years. Appleton-native, Cali Schwalbach, also sings in the Chamber Singers, and her family handled housing many singers, too.
Many thanks to the host families from within our congregation: the Murphy-Pociask family and Grandma Audrey (with housing coordinating help from Patti), Steve and Dee Savides, Paul and Shelley Nulton, Jan Scheibe and Karen Leigh-Post. Additional thanks to Sanctuary Choir members Paul Eggen, Cheryl Foster, Nancy Stanelle, Kristy Albrecht, Julie Meyer and Cheryl Benzschawel who provided food and clean-up for the dinner we provided.
Major thanks to staff member Jane Malin for preparing the main course and organizing the set up and clean up and staff member Carolyn Frederick for her project assistance.
The choir’s director, Dr. Patrick Dill, was very appreciative of the opportunity to sing in our beautiful Sanctuary and expressed his thanks. He also shared greetings from the church he serves as Music Director, First Congregational Church of Wauwatosa. Praise God for the gift of music, and our opportunity to support these young musicians! ~ John Albrecht, Director for Music Ministries
