Every year, we honor Mental Health Awareness Sunday in worship. We would like to lift up your experiences with mental health and mental illness by inviting your anonymous, written responses to one of these prompts:

  • For me, living with mental illness feels like/looks like…
  • Caring for someone with mental illness feels like…
  • What I wish our church family knew about mental illness in my life is…
  • The most helpful thing anyone has ever done or said to care for or support me/my family is…

Responses will be woven together and used to create liturgy, prayers and/or reflections for worship. No names will be shared. For purposes of our May 12 worship experience, “mental illness” refers to disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behavior. Examples of mental illness include depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders and addictive behaviors.

Email your responses confidentially to Pastor Kathryn at kkuhn@firstcongoappleton.org; OR

Send or deliver responses in a sealed envelope to Pastor Kathryn’s attention to the church office. Please respond no later than April 21 (Easter Sunday).
