The Alternative Christmas Market is Sunday, November 10 from 9:30 AM-12:00 PM in First Congo’s Fellowship Hall.
Enjoy brunch and get a head start on your shopping holiday by buying gifts that directly benefit people in our community and around the world.
As a shopper, you choose the alternative gift and “purchase” that item through a donation. For example, instead of buying a candle for your child’s teacher or socks for your favorite uncle, you can give a school uniform to a child in Kenya’s Kerio Valley or bus passes to a homeless person to get to work. After you choose your gift, we supply a card for you to give to the recipient that describes your special, life-giving gift, and we direct your donation to the organization that sponsors the gift.
Since 1993, the congregation’s alternative gifts have changed lives. Together, you have donated more than 3,000 gifts and raised over $270,000 for local, national, and international organizations that relieve suffering and promote justice.
This festive morning includes a brunch for the congregation between services, fair trade gifts from Just Fare, and the Joyce Hanstedt Memorial Bake Sale to benefit LEAVEN.
