Dear First Congo Members and Friends,

As a search committee that brought Rev. Dr. Laurie Lyter Bright to our congregation a year ago, it continues to be an honor and a privilege to recommend Laurie as our permanent Pastor for Congregational Care and Missions. Many of you have had the pleasure of working with Laurie over the past year in varying capacities and have learned of her passion and commitment to the life of our church in the role of Interim Pastor of Congregational Care and Missions.

Early in the interview process it became evident that Laurie had a special gift for inspiring a congregation. She showed a true understanding of the importance of cultivating an intergenerational authenticity in the church that brings people together, a love of community and a heart for the kind of inclusivity that is a central part of her theology.

We are inspired by Laurie’s authentic spirit, compassion and commitment to serve the marginalized and suffering, as her world travels to the UK, South Africa, Israel and Palastine demonstrate. She has shown leadership in our faith journey as a congregation and delivers inspiring sermons that inform and challenge us to live a more Christian life. Her authenticity, enthusiasm and warmth in the many ministry areas she oversees are evident.

Laurie has expressed that she would love to participate in an active community which values education, where passion is encouraged in both the leadership and the congregation, and where respect and love for all humankind is the norm. If you have not yet had the pleasure of talking with Laurie, we encourage you to take advantage of one of the “meet and greet” opportunities that are being offered. We assure you that you will come away feeling the warmth, love and commitment she has for every member of our congregation.

It is with deepest sincerity and “blessed assurance” that we recommend Rev. Dr. Laurie Lyter Bright as our next permanent Pastor for Congregational Care and Missions.

Blessings and Peace,
Search Committee Members
