“As he came near and saw the city, he wept over it, saying “If you, even you, had only recognized on this day the things that make for peace!” (Luke 19:41-21).

We weep with the parents, the siblings, the classmates, the survivors, the police and health care workers, the town of Uvalde, Texas and with the people of Buffalo, New York as they weep over those who were lost by violence. We weep with sorrow, with frustration, with fear, with fury at these recent shootings. More than anything else, we weep with Jesus who wonders yet again why people cannot seem to recognize the things that make for peace.

May God grant comfort to all the victims of these horrific shootings. May God steady and strengthen our resolve to rededicate ourselves to the things that make for peace.

Blessings,
Pastor Steve, Pastor Nick, and Pastor Laurie
