Children's Ministry FAQ's

Do I need to pay a fee for my child to attend Children's Ministry?

We do not charge a fee; however, your pledge or your weekly offering helps to fund programs for people of all ages.

Why should I register my child?

Most importantly, registration ensures that we have the contact and health information that will help us in case of emergency. Accurate registration numbers help us to estimate supply and teacher needs. When you register your child, we are able to keep you informed about upcoming events via email and the Remind app.

We can’t be here every week. Will my child get in trouble for missing classes?

We understand busy schedules and just want your child to be here as much as possible! Your child will have an easier time making friends and learning Bible stories with regular attendance but they will be lovingly welcomed whether here two times or twenty times!

Can my child participate in music at First Congregational?

Children are invited to join the Children’s Choir, which meets on Sundays, 10:45-11:30 AM. The Children’s Choir sings in worship several times a year and also performs an important role in our pageants and intergenerational musicals. Choir is fun!

Contact John Albrecht with any questions.

Does my child need to dress up for Church School?

We suggest that your child dress comfortably! Our classes often involve cooking, painting and other engaging activities.

My child isn’t comfortable participating in the children’s message during church. What should I do?

Don’t worry! It is okay for your child to stay in the pews until the children’s sermon is over and then walk to Children’s Ministry with us. Or, you're welcome to join your child up front for the children's message!

How will my child know where to go after the children’s message?

Children are guided by adults to the CYF Center as a group and travel to their classrooms with their teachers. Your child will not navigate the building alone.

How will I know where to pick up my child after church?

Classroom pick-up locations are posted on the bulletin board just outside the CYF Center and outside of the Sanctuary. They're also printed in your bulletin.

Children in grade 2 and younger are dismissed to a designated adult only. Please do not send older siblings to pick up younger children. Students in grades 4-5 are dismissed on their own and can meet you at the location of your choosing.
