Our mission and service teams get involved in issues such as education, poverty, hunger, shelter, healthcare, equality, transportation and more at the local, national and international levels.
Alternative Christmas Market
Gifts Inspiring Change
Held every November since 1993, the Alternative Christmas Market provides the congregation and the community the opportunity to purchase “alternative” gifts–charitable donations–for the special people on their Christmas lists. Shoppers choose from a catalog of more than 60 gifts, which include food, clothing, shelter, clean water, transportation, medical care, and more. We provide a card and description of each gift for the shopper to present to the recipient.
Market day is a festive event in the life of the church, with brunch, music, a bake sale, and fair-trade items for sale. Each year, the market raises around $10,000 for the church’s local mission partners and other agencies as well as national and international organizations such as Church World Service, Global Ministries, and Heifer International.
If you miss the market, you can also purchase gifts through mid-December between worship services.
